TEMPERATURE
SENSORS Silicone
Rubber Heaters can be fabricated with thermostats, thermocouples, RTD's
and thermal fuses as an integral part of the heater.
Sensors can be located to monitor either heater sheath or part
temperature. Small sensors have a protective cap of silicone sheath
material vulcanized to the heater body. Large sensors and thermostats have
a solid silicone rubber overmold, also vulcanized to the heater.

BONDING
METHODS
Factory
Vulcanizing:
The silicone rubber heater is vulcanized directly to your part during
manufacture of the heater. This produces a very strong, void-free bond
between heater and part that gives the best possible heat transfer and
extended heater life. When other methods of bonding have caused heater
failure, factory vulcanizing can solve the problem. Also, maximum watt
densities can be utilized to reduce heater size, thereby lowering
cost.
Silicone
Rubber Adhesive:
For
a strong, permanent bond, a curing-type silicone rubber adhesive
should be used. Heaters can be bonded to your parts at our factory, or
we will supply recommendations for proper application.
U
L Component Recognition
Hi-Heat participates in Underwriters' Laboratories Component
Recognition program, under UL's File N. E95403. Under the file, A UL
constructed heater can operate in an application with a sheath
temperature of 200 deg. C.
Lead arrangements and controls will have to be evaluated for each
application - Hi-Heat will work with designers and manufacturers to
design heaters that fulfill application requirements and meet UL
requirements for very special applications. Consult the factor for
alternate constructions.
