The SuperDuty ground thawing blanket will thaw ground at a rate of four inches to 10 inches overnight. Different types of soil thaw at different rates. Moisture content is also a factor in the rate at which ground will thaw. Melting of snow and ice is achieved at the same rate. The tighter the blanket is against the surface, the quicker it thaws. The preparation of a sub-grade before pouring concrete on it is so important that there is a standard written by the ACI (306). Concrete cannot be poured on any frozen surface or any surface that is below freezing temperatures. All snow and ice must be removed before a concrete pour. All reinforcement must be free from frost. When concrete is poured onto a cold surface, the heat is zapped out. This drastically slows the hydration process which lengthens set time and increases the amount of bleed water on the surface of the concrete. Pouring in these conditions increases the chance of your concrete freezing. When concrete freezes, it may be damaged and need to be replaced. Use the super-duty to preheat any surface before any concrete pour. It can be 10 degrees F outside and you can be pouring concrete on a sub-grade that is 50-70 degrees F. You will no longer have 3:00 am broom jobs or pay 6 employees to stand around watching concrete not set up. The heat comes from bottom side only on all Powerblankets. Stop paying to heat the air. The Powerblanket can pay for themselves the first time they are used. The super-duty blankets can be used bottom side up to prevent snow and ice accumulation on driveways, sidewalks, entryways, roofs, materials etc.
